What is AutoPKG?

AutoPKG revision Co-developed by Tim Sutton and Greg Neagle (two of the heavy-weights in Mac Admin’ing) it’s a great tool that, with the usage of recipes, can automatically download the latest version of software, perform some basic to intermediate repackaging, and automatically add the results into Munki Repo/s.

What is AutoPKG recipes?

AutoPkg is a system for automatically preparing software for distribution to managed clients. Recipes allow you to specify a series of simple actions which combined together can perform complex tasks, similar to Automator workflows or Unix pipes.

How do you use AutoPkg?

Basic usage

  1. Launch the AutoPkgr app.
  2. On first launch, you’ll see the configuration window:
  3. Click the button to Install AutoPkg if it’s not already installed.
  4. Click the button to Install Git if it’s not already installed.
  5. Switch to the Repos & Recipes tab.
  6. Select the repositories you’d like to subscribe to.

Where does AutoPkg store recipes?

Recipes will be saved in the Cache folder, which means that is where you’ll go to get the pkgs once they are downloaded.
