What is a tuck flip?
A back tuck is a flip in which the feet move forward and the head moves back (a front tuck is the exact opposite). The “tuck” part means that Cook pulls his legs into his body as he rotates. This means that he does the flip from a standing position.
How do you not throw your head back in a back tuck?
Keep spotting firmly on each side of the waist, and landing them on your shoulder for a while so they feel safe. They will do the whole thing very nicely. If you start spotting on the side like a regular tuck too soon, they will likely get scared and revert back to the head-throw method.
What level is a back tuck in gymnastics?
Our gym says that at around L6/7 you should have a nice Standing Back Tuck. At L7/8 you should be able to do a layout and layout stepout if you go into it from a back handspring stepout or cartwheel bc it gives you a little power.
Is a front tuck or back tuck easier?
Back tuck is mentally harder but has less technique, front tuck usually doesn’t give a lot of mental blocks but has harder technique.
