They really care about educational equity and achieving that in our lifetime. They have a record of achievement that has manifested in academics or leading their athletic team or in volunteer work. We also look for critical thinking ability, the ability to influence and motivate, and detailed organizational skills.
Does Teach For America guarantee a job?
Will I automatically have a teaching job after joining the corps? Joining Teach For America does not mean you will automatically have a teaching job. Corps members are hired full-time employees of their school, district, or charter organization (not Teach For America).
How long is TFA training?
TFA has created a pathway to help you prepare for your first days as a teacher and continuously improve throughout your two-year commitment.
How much does Teach For America cost?
Credentialing requirements, including but not limited to testing, can cost up to $1,500. The tuition is $6,195 per year, which is equal to the value of the annual Americorps award. This means corps members who are eligible and enrolled in Americorps will incur no out of pocket expense for their credential.
