What tattoos will disqualify you from the Marines?
Here is a quick breakdown of the places on your body the Marine Corps does not allow tattoos:
- Head, Neck, or Face (including mouth and eyelids)
- Above the Collar Bone (before reaching the neck)
- Two-inches from Elbow or Wrist-Bone.
- Wrist, Hands (only exception is a single ring tattoo), and Fingers.
- Two-inches from the Knee.

What is the origin of the EGA?
The modern EGA is an eagle perched on top of an anchor that is piercing the globe with the words SEMPER FIDELIS emblazoned across the top. The original emblem dates all the way back to 1776. Adopted by the USMC in 1868 and last updated in 1955 this is a symbol with a lot of history behind it.
