Sadly…WATERTON CANYON IS CLOSED. According to officials with Denver Water, the PARKING AND TRAIL CLOSURE BEGAN WED MARCH 18, 2020. It will remain closed (gated and patrolled) until further notice.

Why is it called Devils head?
Access to the summit and lookout tower is via the Devils Head National Recreation Trail. Devils Head name comes from prospectors of the late 1800s. From the southwest of Devils Head, and looking northeast toward the mountain, one can see a shape of a face laying flat, as if the mountain was looking up.
Why is Devil’s Head closed?
This includes the Devil’s Head parking area, Devil’s Head trail, Devil’s Head lookout tower, the Zinn trail, and National Forest Service Road 300. The closure is being put in place due to “utility construction and maintenance operations.” It was noted that the closure is in the interest of public safety.
