Once you’re a qualified PWP it should be very easy to get a job anywhere in the country as there is a high attrition rate of PWPs and an increased demand for them.

How do I get into IAPT training?
You need to apply for a post as a trainee or apprentice PWP in an IAPT service to access the training. All PWPs will complete an accredited IAPT training course which typically consists of 45 days of academic work (one day per week) alongside supervised practice, usually over an academic year.

Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services provide evidence-based psychological therapies to people with anxiety disorders and depression. We assessed digitally enabled therapies for anxiety, depression and medically unexplained symptoms which offer the potential to expand these services further.
Can you work privately as a PWP?
PWPs working privately There are no BABCP or legal requirements to prevent PWPs having an independent practice, however if you are still employment you should check with your trust that it doesn’t breach your terms of contract.
Do I need a psychology degree to be a PWP?
You don’t have to have a degree in psychology to get onto a PWP training programme, as they are offered at Level 6 and Level 7, however many psychology graduates do pursuse this role as a career in itself.
What experience do I need to become a PWP?
