Is epoxy good for a bar top?

If you do sand, be sure to thoroughly clean the surface prior to applying the epoxy. We recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol 99% (be sure it is 99%) to clean.
How thick can you pour bar top epoxy?
The maximum depth to pour is approximately 1/8”- 1/4″ thick. If depths thicker than 1/8”- 1/4″ are desired, multiple coats are necessary. You must wait at least 4 to 10 hours between coats to allow sufficient curing and cooling.
How strong is table top epoxy?
The epoxy-wood bond, and epoxy itself, is at least as strong as the wood. In this case, Black Walnut, which is a very strong wood. So it doesn’t matter if your epoxy table is ½”, 1″, or 3″ thick. The weak link will always be the wood.

How to Apply a Polyurethane Coating to a Bar Top
- Prepare the surface of your bar.

- Repeat Steps 3 through 6 until you have applied three coats of polyurethane.
What happens if you pour resin too deep?
If your epoxy pour is too thick, the reaction can create too much heat, resulting in a product that does not cure properly with cracks or excessive bubbles. The rule of thumb is if you can make an imprint with your fingernail in the epoxy you can pour again and the epoxy will chemically bond to the previous layer.
Can you pour epoxy 2 inches thick?
As long as you pour in 1/8″ layers, you can go as thick as you like. The reason we recommend this thickness is two-fold: first, it allows the bubbles to escape properly, and second, it avoids any excessive overheating of the resin. So for best results always pour in a 1/8″ layer, and you’re good to go!
Can I brush on epoxy resin?

How do you make a resin table top?
Create a fresh masking tape rim around the table top and mix a fresh batch of epoxy resin, making a slightly larger batch than before. Pour the resin mixture slowly onto the table top until the entire top is coated. Allowit to dry per the manufacturer’s recommended curing time between coats.
