Is BT TV the same as YouView?
Originally a joint venture between BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, BT and TalkTalk, YouView TV has become synonymous with BT TV and TalkTalk TV since those broadband providers have used the system to deliver TV services to customers for years.

Can I still use YouView box without BT?
It will work as a normal YouView box, without the BT content. You can record FreeView as normal. I have a retail YouView box, without any BT Vision account, and it works just fine. Apps and catchup are also fine.

What happened to YouView?
YouView will be phasing out support for the YouView mobile app with final support ending on the 31st March 2020. The YouView mobile app will then be removed from the App Store and Google Play. BT are be opening up the remote record functionality within the BT TV app for all* YouView users by the end of March.
Why is my BT YouView box so slow?
Make sure your box has the latest software update. Also might be worth a power reset too. Also try to see if its slow when you use the buttons on top of the box.
Which is better Freeview or YouView?
Ultimately, a choice between the two boils down to devices. Freeview Play is the standard for connected TVs, and YouView isn’t going to challenge it. However, YouView has the lead in the ISP TV set-top boxes, and is being aggressively developed by BT. Freeview Play, then, is our TV platform to watch.
