How to use Zip firelighters?
Preparation and Usage
- Place 1 or 2 Zip™ wrapped firelighters on your coal, logs, briquettes or a thin layer of cinders.
- Using limited draught, light the Zip™ wrapper at one corner (Zip™ recommends long safety matches).
- When the firelighters are well lit, carefully add more fuel taking care not to extinguish the flames.

How many firelighters do I need for BBQ?
Assemble your coals and firelighters in a pyramid shape, with around 3 firelighters nestled in between the individual coal pieces. Give your BBQ around 30 minutes to properly heat up, after which the coals will have turned grey and you’re ready to get cooking!
Do firelighters expire?

Are firelighters bad for you?
Firelighters are full of toxic chemicals that even once burnt out can remain in the coals. Firelighters stink and that stink can begin to taint food. However, there are growing numbers of “green” or natural firelighters that are less toxic.
Can you use firelighters indoors?
A: Firelighters should be kept away from the close surroundings of a fire in a cool and dry place. We advise to keep our firelighters in a metal tin and away from food. Wood, coal and peat should be stored in a dry place with good ventilation so that any dampness can quickly be evaporated to leave dry fuel.
Are fire starters toxic?
Firestarter logs are not toxic per se, in that they do not directly poison an animal who ingests it. (Please note that logs that burn with special colors may contain heavy metals resulting in direct toxicity. Also, the fumes may be dangerous to birds.)
