How many hours of volunteering do you need for DofE?
As a rule of thumb, a three month section equates to at least 13 hours of activity, six months to 26 hours and 12 months to 52 hours.
How many hours of volunteering do you need for bronze DofE?
You must do a minimum of three months activity for each of the Volunteering, Physical and Skills sections, and plan, train for and do a two-day, one-night Expedition. You also have to spend an extra three months on one of the Volunteering, Physical or Skills sections.

Who pays for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a registered charity, funded by donations, Participation Places and licences. The charity works with LOs across the UK to increase opportunities for young people to gain the benefits of doing their DofE.
How do you do the DofE on your period?
What does that mean? Take plenty of pads or tampons – way more than you think you might need. It might also be a good idea to take a separate waterproof wash bag with wipes, spare underwear, lots of pads, tampons or whatever you use for your period and bags or containers to put the waste in.
Can you do DofE gold without doing silver?
Can you skip Silver DofE and go straight to Gold? You can complete the Gold DofE award without having completed Silver, however it will take longer (it doesn’t make a difference if you’ve completed Bronze).
Can you do DofE outside of school?
Is there an alternative way to begin a DofE Award outside of school? As an alternative you can do it through The Scouts, The Guides, CCF and most youth organisation nation wide.
Is DofE good for CV?
This award could be used to show a potential employer or educational institute that you have already been recognized for outstanding qualities and that you have worked to develop yourself professionally and to be the best version of you. Keep in mind, though, that your experiences need to be up to date on your resume.
Is Gold D of E worth it?
Gold DofE is an achievement to be really proud of. Not only can you strongly emphasise the soft skills you developed, but you can speak about the various experiences you had over your Expedition and Skills, Physical and Volunteering Sections with a much more commanding opinion.
Are there toilets in DofE?
Most of the campsites we use will have toilets – some may be proper flushing toilets, others may be more basic portaloos. If you are wild camping then you will not have a toilet, but we will provide you with a trowel and our instructors will discuss camp hygiene with you during the pre-expedition training.
