For a pacifist run just choose to act in between each dodging sequence. Alphys will call eventually informing you of a switch on Mettaton’s back. Now choose act and convince Mettaton to turn around, then flick the switch. (If you die from here you can start the battle from this point from now on).

The only way to stop his attacks is to defeat him first. Keep using the “FIGHT” command to whittle away Asgore’s health, and heal up when needed. It can be a long and tense fight, but players should stay determined and keep learning his attack patterns until the end.
