The only time I use Magnum primers is when specifically indicated for a particular load. Winchester Standard primers have always worked for me. Member NRA and Buckeye Firearms Association. On 357 mag, I use CCI small pistol magnum primers.
Are Longshot primers good for 357s?
I’ve never used Longshot for 357 but a quick look at the Hodgdon site shows them using Winchester small pistol magnum primers. Without knowing bullet weight and powder charge, I’d stick with that personally. Liking CCI primers, the cups are as soft as hard to get Federals. Never tried S&P but I might. Winchesters have hard cups, not to my liking.
What kind of primers do you use with your powders?
Check with powder manufacturer or bullet manufacturer. However, I use Sellier Beliot or CCI primers with my powders. Mainly Winchester SP Mag. My .357 mag loads are usually made with Blue Dot. I use Winchester primers almost exclusively as I get the best deals on them. CCI primers regular for AA#9 or 2400 .
